About Crisis Lighthouse
When the news turns dark, everyone asks the same question: what happens to my money? Crisis Lighthouse exists to replace the anxious guessing with structured, historical thinking — free, transparent, and readable in one sitting.
The idea
Crises feel unprecedented, but financially they rhyme. Wars lift gold, defence and grain; recessions lift government bonds and crush banks; inflation quietly taxes cash and rewards real assets. These patterns have repeated across half a century of shocks — 1973, 1979, 2008, 2020, 2022 — often enough to be worth knowing before the next headline, not after.
The dashboard turns those patterns into an instrument you can play: six severity sliders, twenty-four asset classes, and an outlook score that updates as you explore. The scenario guides supply the history behind every number, and the methodology page publishes the entire model — every weight, every formula. If you disagree with a number, you can see exactly which number you disagree with.
Who it's for
- Investors stress-testing how their portfolio's logic holds up across scenarios.
- Students and the curious learning how asset classes actually interact with world events.
- Journalists, analysts and policymakers who need the historical pattern behind a developing story, fast.
What it is not
Crisis Lighthouse does not predict prices, time markets, or give advice. It deliberately ignores valuations, policy responses and your personal circumstances. It is a lighthouse, not a pilot: it shows where the rocks have historically been — steering the ship is still up to you and, for real decisions, a qualified adviser.
How the site is funded
The site is free and supported by advertising, so it can stay open to everyone. Ads are served by Google AdSense; our privacy policy explains what that means for your data and how to opt out of personalisation.
If Crisis Lighthouse has been useful to you and you'd like to help keep it running — hosting, upkeep and future improvements — you can also support it directly. Donations are entirely optional and processed securely by Stripe; we never see your card details.
